The Lebanon Valley College men’s ice hockey team clinched a spot in the NCAA postseason tournament for the first time since the 2003-2004 season.

The Dutchmen locked up the number three seed when the men defeated the Soaring Eagles of Elmira College on Feb. 17 by a score of 4-1. The men finished the regular season with an overall record of 12-9-2 and a United Collegiate Hockey Conference (UCHC) record of 10-4-2.

“We didn’t know what to expect coming into this season, but we knew that if we worked hard every game we could give ourselves a chance,” Russ Armbruster, a senior center, said. “This season has been amazing for LVC hockey and has paved the way for the future.”

The Dutchmen clinched a spot in the NCAA postseason tournament when they defeated King’s College back on Feb. 9.

“Having home ice for playoffs is going to be a huge advantage, and we are all excited to play on Wednesday,” Armbruster said. “Playoffs is going to show what kind of team we are and show how we deserve to be in the spot we are in.”

The men will square off against Neumann University in next week’s UCHC postseason tournament. The postseason quarterfinal round will be on Wednesday, Feb. 21, at 7 p.m. in Hershey.
