Life after graduation can be tough; the academic world that surrounded students for 16 or more years is gone and the real world is thrust upon graduates without aide or care.
One way that a person can remain grounded is by staying connected to the clubs and groups he or she was a part of during college. This is especially true for those involved in Greek life.
Greek life members have many opportunities to stay connected to their chapters post-graduation. One of the simplest ways to stay connected via Facebook. Many of the Greek organizations at Lebanon Valley College have specific Facebook pages dedicated to their alumni in which they share information about events and chapter growth.
“We always love connecting with alumni, hearing their stories and sharing our experiences with them,” Emily Kissinger, a junior music education major and chapter President of Alpha Sigma Tau, said. “It’s also really comforting to know that when we become alumni, we’ll have opportunities to still be involved and be welcomed back with open arms by our sisters.”
Another way that graduates can remain involved in Greek life is by joining an alumni association in the area that they settle in. This can also be a great way to meet graduates from other chapters.
Those looking to come back to campus can keep up their involvement by visiting for special events like Homecoming, formals and other organization specific events.
More hand-on options include: serving as an advisor to the chapter, serving on the organization’s national council and returning to campus to assist with fundraisers and events.
Remaining connected to Greek organizations is fulfilling for both the graduates and the current LVC students.
“I like staying involved because I love seeing the active women grow and thrive because of Alpha Sigma Tau,” Victoria Seader, a 2016 graduate, said.
Seader remains involved in her chapter by coming back to the Valley to help with Philanthropy events and to visit her sisters.
