Alumni keeping in touch

There are plenty of ways to stay involved at Lebanon Valley College as an alumnus; there is no need to say goodbye for good.

LVC has an active and growing network of alumni that participate in a multitude of events following graduation and it all starts in the Office of Alumni and Parent Engagement.

Housed behind the Vernon and Doris Bishop Library in Laughlin Hall, the office of Alumni and Parent engagement is involved in many events here at the Valley. Sue Sarisky Jones, a graduate of Lebanon Valley College, is the director of Alumni and Parent Engagement, and holds a wealth of information about how to stay involved post-graduation.

“Graduates can stay connected with the Valley by keeping [the alumni office] posted with [their] contact information including mailing address and email so we can send event invitations, The Valley Magazine, etc.” Jones said.

In terms of involvement events, alumni should always keep an eye on the event calendar on the LVC website. There are often fun events scheduled just for LVC graduates. For example, there will be events this summer at a Lancaster Barnstormers game, Hersheypark and Knoebles.

“[The office of Alumni and Parent Engagement] hosts events on and off campus throughout the year so that alums can gather to network, socialize and stay connected,” Jones said.

One of the biggest alumni events of the year is Homecoming, which is scheduled for Oct. 13-15, 2017. Invitations to this event will be mailed out to alumni, which is why it is important to keep address information up to date.

“There is nothing like Homecoming weekend,” Jones said. “This year is my 25th class reunion so I am especially looking forward to this one.”

Graduates also have access to the Handshake system and are encouraged to register their employers with Handshake so that opening and internships can be shared with current students.

Utilizing the Lebanon Valley College alumni network is something that all graduates should do, as it is never clear exactly where connections will take you in life.
