As students progress further into the semester with deadlines and exams, the LVC Yoga Club is there for students to unwind academic stress.
The LVC Yoga Club offers a weekly session on Tuesdays at 6 p.m. for students of all levels. The club provides a welcoming space where students can pause from their busy schedules and relax.
“School can be stressful for all students, and Yoga Club gives students time to decompress, slow down, and be present in the moment,” Macymae Buskey, vice president of LVC Yoga Club and a senior nursing major, said. “It allows students to realize that the time they are living in right now is just as important as finishing that assignment.”
Buskey emphasized that self-care as a college student is very important, especially when students begin to feel very stressed about school. She explained that the club creates an atmosphere where students feel welcome, at peace and relaxed. In addition, students enjoy each session while learning how to connect their body and soul. As a result, students leave each session feeling calmer and more at peace than they did before the session.
“This time of year is always fun because we can incorporate the holidays into our yoga sessions and enjoy fun and festive flows together,” Buskey said.
Looking ahead, the Yoga Club will be having exciting sessions for students to come out and de-stress. Buskey mentioned that the executive board plans to keep building an inclusive community, provide meaningful experiences and continue to grow as a club. Throughout the semester, the club serves as a reminder that stepping away from academic work to practice self-care is vital for mental wellness.
