The LVC community received an exciting announcement ahead of homecoming weekend this year.
President James MacLaren announced EverForward, a $100 million capital campaign designed to improve the LVC experience for its students, faculty and staff. The campaign will target scholarships, academics and student life.
“This is the first public campaign for LVC in quite a while and will have a significant impact now and into the future,” MacLaren said.
Close to $70 million of the $100 million goal has already been committed through donor gifts. The impact of these funds can already be seen through the renovation of Bishop Library, the $5 million endowment for study abroad scholarships, a $5 million donation to name the nursing program and a $6 million donation to launch the engineering physics program.
“Gifts like these attract talented new students and faculty and strengthen LVC’s reputation,” MacLaren said.
Projects that will be beginning soon include a renovation for Lutz Hall, a new atrium for the Blair Music Center, a new wellness center with additional locker rooms connecting to the Arnold Sports Center and other improvements to the sports center.
Approximately 25 percent of LVC students engage in music and approximately 40 percent are student-athletes.
Scholarships are also a key part of the campaign. These donations will go towards academic scholarships for students, as well as recruiting and retaining faculty.
“The additional scholarship funds are needed as we strive to keep an LVC education affordable and work to lower debt at graduation,” MacLaren said.
While students may be concerned about their tuition rising to fund these goals, MacLaren assured students that none of the projects will use revenue from tuition.
EverForward began in 2022 with the quiet, nucleus phase before going public this year. The College anticipates the campaign to be completed by 2030.
