Since last year, LVC’s Dungeons & Dragons club has been restructuring and expanding into more than a game for its players.
After graduation, the D&D club has been electing new officers and gathering new members.
“This semester, the club has restarted regular meetings in which they engage in a range of D&D-related nerdery,” Dr. Nyk Cialini, visiting assistant professor of creative writing and advisor of the D&D club, said.
D&D club hosts a variety of activities, from watching animated series together to hosting one-shot sessions, some of which are in collaboration with the anime club.
However, the club isn’t just for having fun—it focuses on building both interpersonal and storytelling skills.
“The collaboration and communication skills fostered by this type of storytelling are crucial to success in all areas of life,” Cialini said.
Cialini also brings a lot of experience to the club as the advisor, using the principles he teaches in his “Games & Collaborative Storytelling” course, which will be offered again next semester.
“We are hopeful and excited for the future of the club and are looking to expand and explore more ways to bring tabletop roleplaying games to more people’s attention,” Cialini said.
D&D club meets on Wednesdays from 6 to 8 p.m., often in the Bishop Library in room 125.
