Classroom to corporate: One LVC student’s internship at the Sweetest Place on Earth

By Maddie Summers ’27, staff writer

Junior business administration and marketing student Megan Martin recently got the opportunity to intern at Hershey Entertainment and Resorts (HE&R).

Martin joined HE&R as a Human Resources intern this semester. She is currently assisting with the company’s leadership development internship program and managing upcoming hiring appointments.

The environment has been welcoming from the start, and Martin has enjoyed getting to know her coworkers.

“My favorite part is the people,” she said. “It’s been a lot of fun working with the other interns, and my boss is so approachable.”

Martin will be assisting with Hershey’s Leadership Development Internship program, a 12-week program that offers a variety of experiences to students across all majors.

“I think I’m really going to enjoy the hiring appointments,” Martin said.

In terms of professional development, she is also looking forward to learning more about the department.

“I want to learn a lot more about human resources in general,” she said. “There are so many different branches in it, including onboarding and employee support, so I’m excited to dive into both of those regions.”

Martin is also looking forward to learning more about Milton Hershey School and the service opportunities available to employees.

“Everyone that I work with genuinely values it and is proud that Hershey does so much to support them,” she said.

Her advice to fellow students looking to apply – do it.  Martin said so far, it’s been a perfect balance of getting handed specific directions to tasks and being thrown right into projects. She’s grateful the company is close to campus to have this experience.
