The LVC community is looking forward to the addition of new staff in the Office of Intercultural Affairs.
The Office of Intercultural Affairs and Inclusive Programming provides student support and campus-wide programming based on diversity, inclusion, equity and equity-mindedness.
For the start of the 2021-2022 academic year, the Office has been vacant. However, that all changes in October when Dr. Felicia Brown-Haywood joins the College.
In early September, Brown-Haywood was appointed as the first Associate Vice President of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Institutional Success at LVC.
Brown-Haywood is a lifelong resident of Pennsylvania. She is familiar with central Pennsylvania, having spent the last couple of years working at Millersville University as Chief Diversity Officer.
She will bring a wealth of practical experience in developing effective strategies that support the success of underrepresented members of the LVC community.
“I am confident that her expertise and leadership will advance LVC as an inclusive community that values our differences,” Dr. James MacLaren, LVC president, said.
Brown-Haywood will help lead the College’s efforts in inclusive excellence around programming, education and mentoring. She will be an ally and advocate for all students on campus.
The newly appointed Associate Vice President of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Institutional Success plans on doing a lot of listening once she gets to campus. She intends on being extremely visible and accessible to all students, especially those who are in the minority.
“I am excited for our faculty, students and staff to get to know her,” MacLaren said.
