Capstone night for SLP students

(By Sarah Kramer ’25, staff writer)

Second year graduate students of the speech-language pathology program shared their research at the SLP Capstone Symposium on Monday, April 21.

In the summer of 2024, students chose a topic of interest and then conducted research on this topic throughout the summer, fall and spring semesters.

When conducting research, the students could either conduct a study which included surveys, workshops, groups and interviews, or they could do a systematic review which included gathering research from various articles and compiling it together. This research was then put on a poster board to present at the SLP Capstone Symposium on Monday, April 21.

“Presenting at the SLP Capstone Symposium was a rewarding way to reflect on our hard work, accomplishments and how far we’ve come in the program,” Mia Diebert, second year speech-language pathology graduate student, said. “It felt like a special, full-circle moment to share our growth and passions with peers and faculty.”

This event allowed students to showcase the research and hard work they have completed throughout the entire school year before they spread their wings in the professional world upon graduation.
