LVC’s baseball and softball teams will get new dirt for their respective fields thanks to several thousand-dollar investments from the school’s athletics department.

The new dirt will allow for a smoother playing surface for both teams to prevent irregular bounces and allow the athletes to play at their best. The project comes as the athletics department continues to act on its pledge to invest in LVC’s programs and facilities, making sure it can best serve current and future student-athletes.

“The new dirt will benefit the team as we look to continue building on being one of the best fielding teams in the conference,” Tony Bennage, a pitcher and grad student, said.

The additions will begin in the coming weeks, with more projects—including the resurfacing of Arnold Field’s turf field and track—to follow this summer.
