LVC’s digital communications department has decided to undergo a name change and corresponding rebranding for this academic year and the department’s future.
The major is now Digital Media, as the faculty looks to realign their education towards emerging technologies and various internet media. The curriculum will remain the same, with six concentrations detailing various aspects of today’s digital media landscape.
“I think the switch will be beneficial because it will attract more people who want to explore the vast media landscape,” Chris Langsdorf, digital media major, said.
The name change aims to showcase the college’s commitment to its current and future students, as students in the department feel this change could lead to more job offers as the major can now pertain to aspects of professional life. The department’s social media will now reflect the Digital Media title, and the school’s website has already been updated.
