With the end of the academic year in sight and a good portion of the student body saying “goodbye” to LVC, it’s a good time to check in with this year’s graduating class and see where they’re heading.
Angelica Fraine is a name that should be familiar to anyone in the English or art programs at LVC. She’s been a prominent figure within those communities for her entire stay here, as well as acting as a member of the Visioneers Club. Now, she looks to pursue her education even further in graduate school.
“I won’t lie, it’s been a little stressful to try and balance preparing my applications alongside the school work I’ve been doing,” Fraine said. “But I’m really passionate about journalism, so that’s been helping keep me motivated, that this is something I really want to do.”
Fraine explored a good few options to pursue her journalistic goals, before deciding that Quinnipiac University’s Masters of Science in Journalism program best suited her aspirations.
“It’s a smaller program that functions a lot like LVC’s English department,” Fraine said. “I’m particularly interested in their arts and culture specialization, as that’s sort of my main thing here at LVC.”
The application process was grueling, but Fraine had been lucky enough to have support from her professors throughout the process to keep her sane. She cites Dr. Holly Wendt and Dr. MC Hyland along with professor Jaime Fettrow-Alderfer as particularly invaluable resources.
“My time at LVC has been some of the best four years of my life,” Fraine said. “The English, creative writing, and creative arts departments do a stellar job of tapping into their students’ interest and creativity, which has allowed me the chance to explore many different career paths until I found the one that spoke to me the most.”
Fraine looks to pursue a career in investigative journalism after graduate school.
