With Black History Month underway, the Black Student Union (BSU) at LVC is making sure it’s one to remember.

Students can attend the first ever comedy performance hosted by BSU this month. Sign up on Redbook now to see Trey Mack in Zimmerman Hall on Saturday, Feb. 15, at 6:30 p.m.

Then on Friday, Feb. 21, the BSU will be hosting a jukebox night in collaboration with the Student Programming Board. Students will be able to listen to music from Black artists and do crafts.

Their annual unity vigil will be held in Miller Chapel on Tuesday, Feb. 25, at 6:30p.m.

“This is a time for the LVC community to come together to realize how impactful we can be when we come together and work together for a common goal,” Hannah Shelley, senior neuroscience major and president of the BSU, said.

Clio and the BSU will also be collaborating to host a movie night on Thursday, Feb. 27, so keep an eye on their respective Instagrams @cliolvc and @bsu_lvc to vote on which movie they play.

The BSU aren’t the only ones hosting events to celebrate Black History Month. The DEIB office is hosting The Players Club Steppers, and a subsequent Q&A panel discussion on Thursday, Feb. 20, in Blair Music Center.

“It’s important to expose yourself to things you may not know about and to be able to connect with other people even if it’s not the way you typically connect with them,” Shelley said, “We’re more alike than we think.”
