A new club on campus will be promoting mental health at the women’s basketball game against Misericordia University on Wednesday, Feb. 5, at 6 p.m. in the Sorrentino Gymnasium.
The Hidden Opponent is a non-profit and advocacy group that raises awareness for student-athlete mental health and addresses its stigma within sports culture. Many athletes face packed schedules and high expectations, creating a stressful environment for these athletes. This group is trying to break the stereotypes facing student athletes.
The group wants to make student-athletes at LVC aware of the mental health resources that are available to them on campus, and also on how to take care of themselves mentally.
The Hidden Opponent club will be giving out free gear and providing more information about their mission on mental health and more! Team and giveaway gear is sponsored by Student Government.
The group also hosts other events similar to the women’s basketball event, including the chalked walkway to Arnold Sports Center during the fall.
Check the group out at the game on Wednesday, Feb. 5, at 6 p.m. or on Instagram @THO_LVC.
