The dining hall in Allan W. Mund College Center hosted a “vegetarian day” for students Monday, Oct. 14. Vegetarian day consisted of all meatless options for students, which resulted in an array of opinions.
“It was very nice and inclusive for those who do not typically eat meat,” Allyson Babinsky, junior physical therapy major, said. “I think offering at least the deli meat section would have been beneficial to students who need that type of protein in their diet.”
Vegetarian day made some students realize the difficulties for students who opt for a meatless diet. Having only a few options can be difficult when looking for a quick meal between classes.
“It was difficult to find something that would satisfy me in between classes,” Jared Graeff, junior business administration major, said. “Although it was a little frustrating, it made me realize how it can be difficult to find options when you have specific dietary requirements.”
Providing students with sufficient dietary options is one of Mund dining hall’s main goals. Including days such as vegetarian day can give students having that diet more options and provide a clearer insight on the difficulties that come with dietary restrictions.
