Men’s basketball season recap

By Kyle Shenk ’25, staff writer

Men’s basketball had its last game of the season on Saturday, Feb. 17. The team unfortunately fell to Arcadia University in a nailbiter, losing 75-73.

While the Dutchmen struggled this season, they showed resilience after a rough start. After losing the first eight of their games, they rallied back in the second half of the season, collecting eight wins.

The team’s respectable record during the last 17 games of the season shows a lot of promise for next year. This is especially true, since seven out of the team’s eight leading scorers are juniors or sophomores and will most likely be returning next season. Having that many key players return for next year will lead to good team chemistry and understanding of the system.

Notable players who had great seasons include junior guard Ryan Harder, junior forward Evan Timochenko and sophomore guard Kyle Tang. Harder averaged 14.4 points per game (ppg) while shooting 39% from three. Timochenko averaged 13.5 ppg to go along with 8.7 rebounds, while Tang chipped in with 7.9 ppg. All three are expected to return next season.

The season did not go exactly how the team had wanted, but the Dutchmen’s bright spots showed a lot of potential. As they head into the offseason, these promising statistics point to next year’s record being improved upon.
