LVC will be having its annual Day of Giving on Thursday, Nov. 2, which is an essential part of celebrating the college and its community.
Day of Giving is a 24-hour fundraiser for LVC. Donations go to a variety of different groups around campus, from athletic teams to the Vickroy Society. Donors can choose to donate once or match a donation as it comes in for the organization.
LVC’s athletic department relies on this day to provide resources and experiences for student-athletes, such as new gear, team bonding activities and the best technology for film to assist the players.
One team that is participating in the Day of Giving is the Lebanon Valley women’s lacrosse team.
“There are so many factors as to why this day is important for our team. Philanthropy is an important life lesson to learn, as well as the the impact of giving back to a community that you’ve been a part of.” women’s lacrosse head coach, Rachel Perla said.
The team has set the goal of raising $5,000 with a total of 100 donors to support the team.
“The monetary aspect is always appreciated. We understand times are difficult in this post-COVID world and we feel it from a budget perspective,” said Perla.
The donations go to a number of different aspects of the team, all with the intent of enhancing the student-athlete experience during their time at LVC.
“Being a student-athlete is such a special experience, we try to offer opportunities to make memories that will last a lifetime, as well as new gear packages,” said Perla. “Overall, we appreciate any donation – nothing is too big or too small!”
Donations can be made through the LVC website and are available until 11:59 p.m. on Nov. 2.
