The Vernon and Doris Bishop Library has several noteworthy announcements coming up throughout the end of February and into March.
The library will be open on a modified schedule over spring break. The hours are Friday, March 4: 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; Saturday and Sunday, March 5 and 6: closed; Monday through Friday, March 7-11: 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.; and Saturday and Sunday, March 12 and 13: closed.
Student workers are needed to start in fall 2022. Applications will go live on March 1. Check Handshake or the library’s social media (@bishop_library) for the link to apply.
Lebanon County Reads voting begins on March 1. The titles up for selection include “Crying in H-Mart” by Michelle Zauner, “Long Bright River” by Liz Moore, “Mercy House” by Alena Dillon, “The Henna Artist” by Alka Joshi and “The Vanishing Half” by Brit Bennett. All of these titles are available to students through Bishop Library on the eBook platform Libby. The county will vote through March 31 for the title they are most interested in reading. After the winner is announced on May 1, all interested parties in the county will spend the summer reading the chosen book.
Library technician, Matt Doeing, and psychology major, Molly Glavin ’20, will host the next Global
Conversation Hour on Friday, March 18, at 3 p.m. in the library atrium. Doeing will discuss the Russell Berrie Fellowship and his experience studying abroad. Glavin will present “How to get paid while living and traveling in Europe: Teach in Spanish Program.”
As finals grow near, stay tuned for the study room raffle. Bishop Library will raffle off a study room to one student and three guests of their choice. The group gets the study room reserved for the reading day of their choosing (May 7 or 8), snacks, goodies and more. Check the library’s social media for details on how to enter the drawing later in the semester.
