Student-athletes from the women’s volleyball and field hockey teams received the MAC Commonwealth Player of the Year award.
Jessica Attieh, a senior outside and middle hitter, was named Player of the Year and first team all-conference for women’s volleyball in the MAC. Attieh is the first volleyball player to earn this award at LVC since 2011. Attieh excelled in her senior season with 366 kills, .386 hitting percentage, 33 solo blocks, 35 block assists and 68 total blocks. In the Middle Atlantic Conference, Attieh finished with a rank of second in hitting percentage, first in kills per set and second in total kills.
Cecile Kat, a sophomore forward, was named the Co-Offensive Player of the Year and landed on the first team all-conference in the MAC for women’s field hockey. During the 2018 season, Kat scored 23 goals and obtained 6 assists for a total of 52 points. She led the MAC with 23 goals, 52 points, 7 game-winning goals and 1.35 goals per game. She ranks fourth in NCAA Division III for her 1.35 goals per game statistic.
Both Attieh and Kat ended their seasons in the MAC Championship Semifinals. The women’s volleyball team was defeated by Arcadia, 3-1 matches and the women’s field hockey team fell short to Messiah, 7-0.
