Faculty and staff members are set to strap on their dancing shoes.
The LVC Dance Team will host its second annual Dancing with the LVC Stars event on Friday, Feb. 23. LVC faculty and staff will perform a choreographed dance with members of the Dance Team, and throughout the evening, the audience can vote for its favorite dancers by placing money into their bins. Proceeds will be donated to the Sexual Assault Resource & Counseling Center (SARCC) of Lebanon and the Dance Team.
Last year’s event featured six faculty and staff dancers and raised more than $1,000 for Alex’s Lemonade Stand. This year, 13 faculty and staff members are eager to take the stage, and the Dance Team hopes to raise even more money than last year.
The Dance Team will also partner with Can’t Touch This, a sexual assault prevention and awareness club recently started on campus. Emily Routch, a senior early childhood education and special education double major, is co-president of the Dance Team and also a member of Can’t Touch This. As a member of both organizations, she looks forward to strengthening the event through this year’s partnership.
“Dancing with the LVC Stars is an amazing way to bring the campus and community together,” Routch said. “The Dance Team is excited to see our event grow this year, especially with Can’t Touch This working with us not only to raise money for SARCC, but also to raise awareness of sexual assault.”
At the end of the evening, the faculty or staff member with the most money donated to his or her bin will be crowned the winner and will receive his or her own mirrorball trophy.
The event will be hosted in Lutz Hall, located in the Bertha Brossman Blair Music Center, and will begin at 8 p.m.
