Mock Interview Mania Week is quickly approaching and Lebanon Valley College students are encouraged to sign up.
The Center for Career Development is hosting its second mock interview event on Monday, Nov. 6 through Friday, Nov. 10. The event involves students meeting one-on-one with local human resource professionals for a practice interview.
“It’s a pretend interview for a pretend job where a student can develop basic interview skills,” Brynn Mason, assistant director of career development, said. “We ask that students come prepared as if it’s a real interview.”
The first mock interview week was held last spring. Since the experience received outstanding feedback, the event is back this semester.
“We open up the schedule for every class year, major and master students as well,” Mason said. “Anyone who feels they could benefit from practicing interview skills should sign up for an interview.”
Based on the last mock interview event, these skills include: a firm handshake, good eye contact, body language and formulating answers to general interview questions. Overall, students felt more comfortable and prepared for future interviews.
“The employers who were here loved it and the student feedback was outstanding,” Mason said. “Our plan is hopefully to have a Mock Interview Mania Week every semester.”
Interviews will be conducted at the Center for Career Development, which is in the lower level of the Allen W. Mund College Center. Students interested in attending the event should sign up on Handshake. A current resume must be submitted to reserve a spot. Once a resume is submitted, a day and time slot can be selected.
