Dr. Davis Presents Pair of Sessions at State Conference

Dr. Sharon Davis, director of music education and associate professor of music, presented two sessions at the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association annual conference in early April. She presented her first session, “Modern Band in the Classroom: Performing, Creating, and Assessment,” with three graduates of the Modern Band Certificate Program, Dan Brenner ’02, Dean Packard-Howey ’16, and Kayla Kurtz. Brenner and Packard-Howey also earned their bachelor’s at LVC. Dr. Davis also presented on the “Redefining General Music” panel discussion. 

Dr. Davis Presents at Research Conference

Dr. Sharon Davis, associate professor of music and director of music education, presented “A researcher’s journey” at the Music Education Research Day at Oakland University in Rochester, Michigan, on June 21.  

Dr. Davis Reflects at Conference

Dr. Sharon Davis, assistant professor of music and director of music education, presented “Reflections on an inter-collegiate music creation collaboration,” at the Modern Band Colloquium.

Dr. Shelly Moorman-Stahlman’s Performances Feted in Brazil

Dr. Shelly Moorman-Stahlman, professor of music and College organist, gave a concert tour in Brazil recently, including an appearance with the Mogi das Cruzes Orchestra at the Festival do Inverno, the largest classical music festival in Latin America. Her work was covered by several Brazilian media outlets. This year, Moorman-Stahlman was joined on the trip by Dr. Sharon G. Davis, director of music education, and three music education students—Robin McAnally ’18, Abby Stoner ’19, and Rachel Schulz ’19—to travel to four cities in Brazil. They gave workshops in handbells, tone chimes, bucket drumming, and boomwhackers, and the students performed handbell concerts.
