Concert Choirs Gets Standing O at PMEA Conference

The fifty-strong members of the LVC Concert Choir performed at the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association Professional Conference on April 8. They were one of a select few choirs selected, by blind audition, to represent the best of the best across the state. Directed by Dr. Kyle Zeuch, assistant professor of music and director of choral activities, the Concert Choir performed a challenging 30-minute show, “Alive and Well,” with poise, grace, professionalism, and emotion. They received a standing ovation from the packed room of music educators.

Dr. Zeuch and LVC Choirs National Semi-Finalists

Dr. Kyle Zeuch, assistant professor of music and director of choral activities, was named an American Prize: National Semi-Finalist for the Dale Warland Conducting Award (College/University Division). The LVC Choirs he directs also were announced as National Semifinalists for the Virtual Performance Award. Dr. Johannes Dietrich, Newton and Adelaide Burgner Professor of Instrumental Music and director of the Symphony Orchestra, and Shelly Moorman-Stahlman, professor of music and College organist, assisted in the 2020 Christmas at The Valley performance that was submitted for consideration by the American Prize judges.

Dr. Zeuch Publishes Op-Ed on PennLive

Dr. Kyle Zeuch, assistant professor of music and director of choral activities, published an op-ed in PennLive earlier this week. In “Why we need to sing again,” he shares the mental and emotional benefits of communal singing, and encourages all to join a choir once it is safe to do so.
