Dr. Wendt asks, “What Do You Make of It?

On Oct. 20, at the Conversations & Connections Conference at Chatham University in Pittsburgh, Dr. Holly M. Wendt, assistant professor of English and director of creative writing, facilitated an interactive workshop for conference attendees. In “What Do You Make of It?: History & Short Forms,” participants generated poems, micro-essays, or flash fictions through engaging with historical artifacts ranging from daguerreotypes to advertisements. Students Attend First Biomechanics Conference

Dr. Georgios Stylianides, director of the Jeanne and Edward H. Arnold Health Professions Pavilion Performance Laboratories and associate professor of exercise science, recently attended the American Society of Biomechanics East Coast Meeting, bringing along two students majoring in exercise science and physical therapy, Alyssa Raughley ’19, D’21 and Victoria Laczo ’19, D’21. Alyssa and Victoria have already been in two of Dr. Stylianides’ exercise science courses. The students benefited from the opportunity provided by LVC and Dr. Stylianides. They learned about performing and presenting research in the biomechanics field, among other educational and networking benefits. In addition, Dr. Stylianides served as a moderator for one of the workshops for the conference, which was held at Penn State University—Berks.

Madeline Teitsma ’21 Selected to Attend National 4-H Congress in Atlanta

Madeline Teitsma ’21, a music and music education double  major from Newton, N.J., was one of just 18 students from nine Jersey counties to be selected to attend a national 4-H Congress in Atlanta, Ga., later this month. According to the article, “The conference will focus on the Cooperative Extension System’s belief that young people can be significant partners in addressing the issues that face our nation, especially those affecting youth.”
