Drs. McNulty and Romagnolo Interviewed for The Burg

Dr. Barbara McNulty, director of the Suzanne H. Arnold Art Gallery and assistant professor of art history, and Dr. Cathy Romagnolo, professor of English, were interviewed for Capturing Courage: LVC exhibit documents the terror, the bravery of the civil rights movement, which was published in the February issue of The Burg. The article noted McNulty’s role in the gallery exhibition of internationally noted photographer Danny Lyon’s historic work on the early Civil Rights movement, which runs through March 22. Romagnolo was interviewed regarding the Gallery dialogue she led on Lyon’s photography during the College’s annual Symposium on Inclusive Excellence.

Dr. McNulty’s Art on Display at Pennsylvania Governor’s Residence

Apple of My Eye, a painting by Dr. Barbara McNulty, director of the Suzanne H. Arnold Art Gallery and assistant professor of art history, was selected by First Lady Frances Wolf to be displayed at the Pennsylvania Governor’s Residence. Professor McNulty’s painting is part of the Art of the State Purchase Award Collection in the State Museum of Pennsylvania.

Art Students and Alumna Co-Present Papers at Conference Highlighting Suzanne H. Arnold Art Gallery Exhibitions

Rebecca Worhach ’16 (art & art history), Rebekka Carpenter ’18 (art & visual culture and historical communications double major, physics minor), Sarah Johnson ’18 (art & art history, world classics minor), and Audrey Reiley ’18 (art & art history with minors in world classics and philosophy) co-presented a session, “Developing Innovative Projects for Gallery Education Outreach,” at the Pennsylvania State Arts and Education Symposium in Camp Hill Nov. 2. Worhach, an assistant in the Suzanne H. Arnold Art Gallery, and the three seniors co-presented with Dr. Barbara McNulty, director of the Gallery and assistant professor of art history, on the follow LVC exhibits:

Dr. McNulty Has Proposal Accepted for Regional Symposium; Students and Art Alumni to Participate

A workshop proposed by Dr. Barbara McNulty, director of the Suzanne H. Arnold Art Gallery, was accepted for inclusion in next month’s Pennsylvania Arts and Education Symposium. Current students Epiphany Bliesath ’20 (art & visual culture and business administration double major), Sarah Johnson ’18 (art & art history major, world classics minor), and Audrey Reiley ’18 (art & art history major, world classics and philosophy double minor), will participate in the workshop, as will former Gallery interns Caitlin Courogen ’16 and Becca Worhach ’16, both art & art history majors. Candice Heishman ’18 and Rachel Frantz ’18, both art & visual culture majors, will serve as Gallery attendants.

Dr. McNulty Hosts Association of Academic Museums and Galleries

Dr. Barbara McNulty, director of the Suzanne H. Arnold Art Gallery, hosted the Association of Academic Museums and Galleries regional meeting at the Gallery on Sept. 22. The event was a success with attendees from Albright College, Bucknell University, Dickinson College, Franklin & Marshall College, Gettysburg College, Lafayette College, Messiah College, Pennsylvania College of Technology, The Pennsylvania State University, St. Joseph’s University, the University of Pennsylvania, and The University of the Arts participating.

Dr. McNulty’s Apple of My Eye to be Included in State Museum of Pennsylvania Show

Dr. Barbara McNulty, director of the Suzanne H. Arnold Art Gallery, recently had one of her watercolor paintings, Apple of My Eye (1985), selected as part of The Art of the State Purchase Award Collection, 1969–2017. In celebration of the 50th anniversary of the annual juried exhibition Art of the State, The State Museum of Pennsylvania is showcasing featured works that were purchased by the museum and added to its permanent collection over five decades.
