Dr. Ivette Guzman-Zavala and Dr. Laura Eldred Participate in International Faculty Development Seminars in Argentina and Italy

Dr. Ivette Guzman-Zavala, associate professor of Spanish, and Dr. Laura Eldred, associate professor of English, traveled to Buenos Aires, Argentina, and Ferrara, Italy, respectively, this summer through an educational education program run by CIEE, which has helped thousands of students, professionals, and educators gain the knowledge and skills necessary to live and work in a globally interdependent and culturally diverse world.

Guzman-Zavala attended the International Faculty Development Seminar “Gender, Sexuality, and Human Rights in Contemporary Argentina,” in Buenos Aires in June. This seminar presented recent political debates about sexual and reproductive rights in Argentina, among other topics.

Eldred will attend the International Faculty Development Seminar “A Taste of Ferrara: Italian Gastronomic Traditions and Economic Perspectives,” in Ferrara, Italy in July. This program’s objectives focus on integrating cross-disciplinary approaches and knowledge, communicating across boundaries and disciplines, and getting different disciplines/specializations to work together. All of these fit with the general goals of LVC’s integrative Constellation program, especially the Connective experience.
