Dr. Walko Invited to be a PACER Project Contributor

Dr. Matthew Walko, clinical associate professor of physical therapy and board certified Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Physical Therapy Specialist, was invited to create a video in response to COVID-19 by the Cardiovascular Pulmonary Section of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA). The videos, including Dr. Walko’s Inpatient Facility Core Competencies: Basics for PTs Transitioning from Another Treatment Environment, are part of the PACER (Post-Acute COVID Exercise & Rehabilitation) Project and will serve as free continuing education through the APTA.

Students Shine in Global Business Strategy Game

Three student teams in Dr. Robert Leonard’s Business 485 Strategic Management senior capstone course earned Global Top 100 rankings for their Business Strategy Game performance. The Hildebrand Company, comprised of Vance Hermanson, Rebecca Kutz, Tyler Lutz, and Matthew Pados, were recognized for Overall Game-to-Date Score, which was tied for best Overall Score, and worldwide performance of the week. The Emerald Exports team, comprised of Scotty Dickmyer, Adam Eidemiller, Dominique Guimond, and George Thompson, were recognized for their Return on Average Equity (ROE), which was the 100th best ROE performance of the week, worldwide. Finally, I Wanna Drop Out, comprised of Corbin French, Jordan Huhn, Adam Salazar, and Leah Wingert, were also recognized for ROE, with their 134.4% being the 10th best ROE of the week, worldwide.  

Dr. Josephson’s Advice Published on Quartz

Dr. Kimberlee Josephson’s, associate dean of the Breen Center for Graduate Success and assistant professor of business administration, article, “Do not underestimate the power of company swag at a time like this,” was published by Quartz. 

Dr. Dolan Opinion Article Published in Newsweek

Dr. Chris J. Dolan’s article, “Trump’s ‘Blame China’ Re-Election Strategy Might Seriously Backfire,” was published in Newsweek on May 22. Dolan, a Fulbright Scholar, is a professor of political science.

Dr. Delavan Publishes Book Chapter

Dr. Will Delavan, associate professor of  economics, was among the authors featured in “After the Pandemic: Visions of Life Post COVID-19,” which was recently published by Sunbury Press. Delvan’s chapter, “The Looming Health Insurance Problem,” was included in the 27-chapter book edited by Lawrence Knorr.

Dr. Dolan’s Op-Ed Published in Pennsylvania Capital-Star

Dr. Chris J. Dolan’s op-ed, “How COVID-19 is Going to Reset the World Order and the U.S.’s Place in It,” was published May 3 in the Pennsylvania Capital-Star. Dolan, professor of political science, notes that “COVID-19 has the potential to reshape America’s role in the world and alter the structure of the international system,” among other points.

Gov. Wolf Appoints Dr. Blouch to State Science Committee

Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Wolf appointed Dr. Kathleen Blouch, director of the Master of Science in STEM Education Program, to a committee to update the Pennsylvania Academic Science and Technology, Environment, and Ecology Standards. Blouch joins the committee of education professionals selected to serve as content experts to draft the new standards.

Hannah Pell’s ’16 Op-Ed Published on Physics Today

Hannah Pell ’16, physics and music, published an op-ed piece on Three Mile Island on Physics Today this week. Pell, an LVC Fulbright, wrote about “Three Mile Island and lessons in crisis communication.”
