Morell Releases Album Performed by University of Miami Frost Concert Jazz Band

Dr. Justin Morell, assistant professor of music, composed Concerto for Guitar and Jazz Orchestra, which he performed with Adam Rogers, guitarist, and the Frost Concert Jazz Band of the University of Miami and its conductor, John Daversa. A reviewer for All About Jazz called it “a product of great beauty and depth,” and it can be purchased on ArtistShare, Amazon, and iTunes, among other avenues.

You’re a Mean One Goes Viral

Three musicians who met at LVC—Phil Freeman ’11, Jonny Ross ’12 (O’Neil), and Ben Guiles—are receiving national notoriety after their band, Small Town Titans, remade the holiday classic, “You’re a Mean One Mr. Grinch.” The York Dispatch covered the story after the group’s video passed 22 million views.

Frances Borowsky to Perform at Carnegie Hall

Frances Borowsky, adjunct instructor of music, cello, was invited by the Foundation for the Revival of Classical Culture to perform works by Brahms and Dvořák for a 125th anniversary celebration of Antonín Dvořák, at the Stern Auditorium/Perelman Stage of Carnegie Hall on December 18. Borowsky, who began teaching at LVC in fall 2017, has performed internationally as soloist and chamber musician in venues such as Carnegie Weill Hall, the Kennedy Center, and the Penderecki European Music Centre with the likes of the Tianjin Symphony Orchestra, Gettysburg Chamber Orchestra, and Alexandria Symphony Orchestra.

Dave Shapiro, senior director of information technology and chief information officer, and Coulson Miller ’19, a business administration major with a minor in computer & data science, were interviewed in a story by York Daily Record video journalist Cameron Clark regarding LVC having the state’s first varsity intercollegiate eSports team. The video and accompanying photo slide show was picked up by USA Today and ran on its home page.

Dr. Alladin’s Research Published in The Prison Journal

Dr. Terrence Alladin’s co-authored research with Don Hummer of Penn State Harrisburg, The Relationship Between Individual Characteristics, Quality of Confinement and Recidivism by Offenders Released from Privately and Publicly Managed Residential Community Corrections Facilities, was published in The Prison Journal. Dr. Alladin is an assistant professor of criminal justice.

Dr. Will Delavan, associate professor of economics, was quoted regarding the uncertainty in international geopolitics possibly affecting energy prices, in the U.S. News & Report article What Will Cost More—and Less—in 2019.
