Ann Berger-Knorr conducted a workshop at Millersville’s Summer Reading Institute entitled “The Transformative Power of Social Justice Text Sets.” Over 40 participants examined picture books looking at issues of social justice.
Chris Dolan was a featured guest on NPR’s Radio Smart Talk with Scot LaMar. Chris shared his expertise in a talk was titled, “International Relations in the 2016 Presidential Election.” He also presented on “NATO and the Southern Flank” at the World Affairs Council’s program on Hot Topics Tea–Troubles in Turkey.”
Laura Eldred volunteered this past summer as a site supervisor for the summer lunch program at Lebanon’s S 6th Street playground. The program is a nationally based one aimed to ensure that students who qualify for free or reduced lunches during the school year continue to get meals during the summer months.
Andrew Hildebrand led a panel discussion on Big Data and its uses in private accounting at the PA Institute of CPAs Annual Educators’ Conference.
Jeff Robbins, Owen Moe, Lewis Chaslow, Kevin Pry, Stacy Goodman, Paul Heise, Jim Broussard, Holly Wendt, Grant Taylor, and Diane Johnson presented book reviews at Mount Gretna in June, July, and August. At Cornwall Manor, book reviews were given by Michael Schroeder, Karen Walker, Sally Clark, Michelle Niculescu, Mary Pettice, Todd Snovel, Robert Vucic, John Kearney, John Norton, and Courtney Lappas.
Kathleen Tacelosky continued her community engagement throughout the summer and taught ESL to Spanish-speakers in Lebanon, PA.
