LVC has more clubs than you can count on campus, but one small, relatively new club has been making a big impact on the people involved.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Dungeons and Dragons (D&D) club has only been around for a few years, but its weekly meetings have given its members the opportunity to converse and share in the joy of the hobby they love so much.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cD&D has been something I was always really interested in but only got the chance to play during college\u201d Rohan Lala, president of the D&D club said. \u201cAfter seeing the community it is able to create and how much people were chomping at the bit to play, I knew I had to do something to make the game more accessible for people to start playing.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lala took the position of president after being allowed to play the game for the first time in his freshman year. Since then, he and the club have been instrumental in giving students the opportunity to meet, socialize, and play the game, often for the first time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe club really boils down to two parts: the weekly meetings and facilitating groups,\u201d Lala said. \u201cThe first part is just generally being able to talk about D&D, share stories, and plan one-shots.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The clubs also takes time to help players who may have questions or those seeking advice that could improve their experience with the game.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI feel that for the D&D club to thrive, we need to do a better job of promoting the discord to people who don\u2019t attend the weekly meetings,\u201d Lala said. \u201cI feel that a lot of the longer group creation has been done by word of mouth rather than the discord, so I am concerned about that aspect of the club dying off as I leave.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lala is a junior this year, so his fears of the club\u2019s continuation are approaching before long. That said, the impact it\u2019s had on those already involved cannot be overstated.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
