However, that adversity didn\u2019t slow them down as they finished groups stage with a record of five wins and two losses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe road to playoffs has been a bit rocky but fulfilling,\u201d says Andrew Syslo, captain of the team. \u201cAfter a heartbreaking loss against Messiah in week two, I knew we\u2019d have to win out against [almost] every team.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Apart from the loss to Messiah University, the team also fell to Stonybrook University, the strongest team in the league. This meant taking one more loss would\u2019ve put it out of contention.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cUltimately, it came down to the last week against [Widener University],\u201d Syslo said. \u201cWhile they played well and forced set three, we bounced back and closed out set three against them. Widener always plays us close, so it\u2019s satisfying to beat them.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The team\u2019s season isn\u2019t over yet though. It will start off in conference playoffs to decide the seeding for the final bracket, and after that it\u2019s off to the races.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cFor final playoff brackets, I feel like I\u2019m playing with house money,\u201d Syslo said. \u201cIf we win a few sets and go on a run, great. If not, I\u2019m hoping that we can give these teams a run for their money.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The smash team will be facing off in conference playoff this Thursday, March 23 at twitch.tv\/nacestarleague.
