Not only can students learn about Zighelboim\u2019s experience as a writer, but also about her fluency in another language.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition to her writing career, Zighelboim currently works as a professor of creative writing at Columbia University and Parsons School of Design.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Her debut collection of poetry, \u201cThe Fat Sonnets,\u201d was published in 2018, and she has since co-translated Luis Chaves\u2019 book \u201cEquestrian Movements.\u201d Zighelboim\u2019s works center around firsthand experience with weight stigma as well as the struggles and pleasures of living in a fat body.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201c\u2018The Fat Sonnets\u2019&nbsp;really dives into both the misunderstandings and stereotypes people hold about fat bodies and the pleasures of being alive in any body \u2013 eating, intimacy and art,\u201d Dr. MC Hyland, assistant professor of English and creative writing, said, \u201cIn addition to being formally experimental and about an important topic, Zighelboim&#8217;s poems are both moving and fun.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This series allows students of all majors and interests to come together and learn more about diversity in literature. \u201cWriting: A Life\u201d allows students to have close contact with a variety of authors and provides insight into the literary world, as well as authors\u2019 experiences with writing and publishing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Zighelboim will host her reading session in the Bishop Library Atrium on Monday, March 20, at 7 p.m. Those who prefer to attend via Zoom can register through this&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/lvc-edu.zoom.us\/meeting\/register\/tZEqcu-vrjIsGtL8LncS0wM4TN0dDnEka4Vf\">link<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<div class=\"mh-excerpt\"><p>Paige Dalto \u201924, staff writer \u201cWriting: A Life,\u201d LVC\u2019s free reading series, will welcome author and poet Samantha Zighelboim in March.
