{"id":8825,"date":"2022-10-24T18:22:06","date_gmt":"2022-10-24T18:22:06","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/wordpress.lvc.edu\/wordpress\/lavie\/?p=8825"},"modified":"2022-10-24T18:22:06","modified_gmt":"2022-10-24T18:22:06","slug":"the-dutchmen-ale-returns-to-lvc-homecoming","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wordpress.lvc.edu\/lavie\/2022\/10\/24\/the-dutchmen-ale-returns-to-lvc-homecoming\/","title":{"rendered":"The Dutchmen Ale returns to LVC Homecoming"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"dslc-theme-content\"><div id=\"dslc-theme-content-inner\">\n<p>By Natalie Santangelo \u201923 Staff Writer&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Nine LVC students partnered with Snitz Creek Brewery for this year\u2019s brew of the Flying Dutchmen Ale.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>LVC chemistry, biology, biochemistry and molecular majors make up the team responsible for the creation of this year\u2019s Flying Dutchmen Ale. These students formulated their own recipes and brewed their own ale.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Bruno Mochi, a chemistry student, is part of the Brew Crew this year. His favorite part was easy to point out.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cHands down my favorite part was getting to grind up the malt during the milling process,\u201d Mochi said.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The milling process is an important part of the brewing process because the outer layers of the grains are crushed to mash the liquor and access the inner parts of the grain.&nbsp; The Brew Crew has worked months on crafting a special beer for this year&#8217;s event. This year\u2019s recipe used Arian hop, which is a new German variety.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThey are what give our ale the fresh citrus aroma,\u201d Mochi said.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>LVC has created a strong partnership with Snitz Creek. Working with LVC has given students new opportunities, while also increasing brand awareness of Snitz Creek Brewery.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIt was nice to have the Snitz Creek Brew Master [Ryan Moncarz] explain every step with us and walk us through how the brewing process goes,\u201d Mochi said. \u201cFor anyone who joins the Brew Crew I can see it would be very easy to start homebrewing of our own in the future.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dr. Elizabeth S.
