LVC Soccer Preview

Coming off a hot season the year before, the LVC men\u2019s soccer team is trying to repeat last year and play in the NCAA tournament. However, the team\u2019s route has been a little shaky.

With one of the many fall sports played at LVC, one could argue the men’s soccer team is one of the most exciting teams on campus. Games are always close, every half is filled with moments and the team does not disappoint.

The team is relatively older, as more than 75 percent of the team are juniors, seniors or grad students. With a record of 6-5-1, senior Zach Reed thinks they have enough push to grab a playoff spot.

\u201cI think the only thing we can do is take everything game by game, and opponent by opponent,\u201d Reed said. \u201cEvery game means something from here on out. There\u2019s three points on the line every single time we step on the field. We have to do everything we can to make sure the three points come home with us.\u201d

Being a senior, Reed agrees that he must be a leader on a team.

\u201cI think there\u2019s challenges leading any team at any level against anybody,\u201d Reed said. \u201cEverybody\u2019s on the same page and it makes everything so much easier, and I think where we are right now as a team, and we have everybody competing for a common goal. Everyone\u2019s willing to work as hard as they can get to the goal.\u201d

The Dutchmen are third in overall conference record and points, and with six games remaining on the schedule, the team expects to be right back where they were last year.

\u201cAt the end of the day, we always want to qualify for playoffs, but in the meantime, all we can do is focus on the game that\u2019s in front of us and the team that is in front of us to help ensure we walk away with three points day in and day out,\u201d Reed said.
