{"id":8376,"date":"2022-09-12T23:19:00","date_gmt":"2022-09-12T23:19:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/wordpress.lvc.edu\/wordpress\/lavie\/?p=8376"},"modified":"2022-09-12T23:19:00","modified_gmt":"2022-09-12T23:19:00","slug":"behind-the-camera-carson-frey","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wordpress.lvc.edu\/lavie\/2022\/09\/12\/behind-the-camera-carson-frey\/","title":{"rendered":"Behind the camera: Carson Frey"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"dslc-theme-content\"><div id=\"dslc-theme-content-inner\">\n<p>By Collin Jones &#8217;23, staff writer  <br><br>Athletic events are typically recorded \u2013 whether on film, video or social media.  <br><br>Carson Frey, a senior digital communications major and lacrosse player at LVC, is known around campus for always being seen courtside or on the field at athletic events.  <br><br>Frey started a YouTube channel in 2015 called \u201cBeachwood Boys,\u201d which was mainly used to post vlogs while in high school. About 3 years ago, Frey gave his brand a refresh and the sky was the limit.   <br><br>Frey and his buddy Sam started a podcast and a stringing company named \u201cBeachwood Boys.\u201d <br><br>\u201cWe combined all the lacrosse media into one media organization called \u2018Blue Dogs Lacrosse (BDLC),\u2019\u201d Frey said. \u201cSince we have been trying to grow the game by putting out unique lacrosse content that doesn\u2019t currently exist on platforms.\u201d <br><br>Frey&#8217;s love for the game is like no other. He creates podcast episodes, travels to the NCAA DIII National Championship to record footage, has his own team in the Maryland Lacrosse League and produces a podcast talking about all things lacrosse. <br><br>With being so invested in Frey\u2019s field of work, one must find a reason to keep going, and his is to grow the game. Lacrosse is not as popular as football, basketball or baseball respectively, but people like Carson are the reason why there is a professional lacrosse league and why the sport is growing among youth.  <br><br>Frey has many projects under his belt but the one he is working on right now is his favorite. Frey is working with a local guy who goes by &#8220;Hersheylaxdyes&#8221;. Together, they create lacrosse content which Frey says is fun.  <br> <br>\u201cHe has so many cool stories about lacrosse and is a really cool guy so being able to work with him dyeing a lacrosse head was awesome,\u201d Frey said.  <br><br>As well as working with \u201cHersheylaxdyes,\u201d Carson aims to bring \u201cvlogs every Friday, challenge videos every Sunday,\u201d with those videos being on Blue Dogs Lacrosse YouTube channel.  <br><br>When he\u2019s not trying to build his brand or grow the game of lacrosse, Frey records LVC athletic events and posts on social media.  <br><br>\u201cIt\u2019s always fun to get some good clips,\u201d Frey said. <br><br>Blue Dogs Lacrosse is on all social media platforms so a simple search of Blue Dogs Lacrosse is all one needs to find Carson&#8217;s work.
