Senior Justin Schuetz was named MAC Commonwealth Tennis Player of the Week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the week of April 4, Schuetz went 4-0 in both singles and doubles. Schuetz\u2019s effort helped lead the team to a historical win over defending conference champion, Stevenson University on April 10. The Dutchmen\u2019s win was Stevenson\u2019s first conference lost since 2018.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt felt great to beat Stevenson because that was a goal that all of us worked really hard to achieve,\u201d Schuetz said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In his singles match, Schuetz won 6-2, 6-0 over Mustangs\u2019 Ben Porto. Schuetz and Adam Warren also defeated the Mustangs\u2019 top doubles pair.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Schuetz likewise contributed to the Dutchmen\u2019s dominating 8-1 victory over Alvernia University, winning his doubles and singles matches. The senior has won his last six singles and six doubles matches.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cEveryone on the team is playing really great tennis right now,\u201d Schuetz said. \u201cA lot of guys on the team deserve Player of the Week.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Multiple Dutchmen have received the honor this season including Nicole Honrade, Jeffrey Bauer, Brady McLucas, Brendan Byler and Eliana Shenk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During his freshman year campaign, Schuetz went 18-3 in singles and earned MAC Commonwealth Rookie of the Year and First Team All-Conference.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The tennis team competes on Wednesday, April 20, at 3:30 p.m. against Eastern University. The match is at home.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
