LVC is constructing a new academic building on campus. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

LVC has approved plans for a new nursing facility that will support the nursing program set to begin\u00a0next fall. Shawn Curtin, vice president\u00a0of finance & administration, provided details about the new building.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe new nursing facility will be located to the right of and connect to Arnold Health Professions Pavilion,\u201d Curtin said.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It will be possible to access the new building via the current second floor exit of the AHPP. This means the new building will have easy access to attractions in the AHPP such as The Grove Express, where students can purchase snacks and coffee.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt will contain three classrooms, a wet lab, a simulation lab with five simulation suites, a skills lab and a home health lab,\u201d Curtin said.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The building is two stories tall, has a basement and is approximately 37,000 square feet. The building was designed with energy efficiency in mind. There will be a two-story atrium and lots of natural light provided by the large amount of exterior wall glass looking towards the sports center.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThere will be several conference rooms, lab debrief rooms and plenty of study space for students,\u201d Curtin said.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The building won\u2019t be exclusively for nursing students. Just like the AHPP, anyone is welcome to utilize the study spaces.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n
