{"id":7284,"date":"2021-09-20T19:14:36","date_gmt":"2021-09-20T19:14:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/wordpress.lvc.edu\/wordpress\/lavie\/?p=7284"},"modified":"2021-09-20T19:14:36","modified_gmt":"2021-09-20T19:14:36","slug":"office-of-intercultural-affairs-welcomes-new-staff","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wordpress.lvc.edu\/lavie\/2021\/09\/20\/office-of-intercultural-affairs-welcomes-new-staff\/","title":{"rendered":"Office of Intercultural Affairs welcomes new staff"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"dslc-theme-content\"><div id=\"dslc-theme-content-inner\">\n<p>By Hannah\u202fShirey\u202f\u201923, assistant editor\u202f\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The LVC community is looking forward to the addition of new staff in the Office of Intercultural Affairs.\u202f&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Office of Intercultural Affairs and Inclusive Programming provides student support and campus-wide programming based on diversity, inclusion,&nbsp;equity&nbsp;and equity-mindedness.\u202f&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For the start of the 2021-2022 academic year, the Office has been vacant.\u202fHowever, that all changes in October when Dr. Felicia Brown-Haywood joins\u202fthe College.\u202f&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In early September,\u202fBrown-Haywood\u202fwas\u202fappointed as\u202fthe first Associate Vice President of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Institutional Success at LVC.\u202f&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Brown-Haywood\u202fis\u202fa lifelong resident of Pennsylvania.\u202fShe is familiar with central Pennsylvania,\u202fhaving spent the last couple of years working at Millersville University\u202fas Chief Diversity Officer.\u202f\u202f&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She will\u202fbring a wealth of practical experience in developing effective strategies that support the success of underrepresented members of the\u202fLVC\u202fcommunity.\u202f&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI am confident that her expertise and leadership will advance LVC as an inclusive community that values our differences,\u201d\u202fDr. James MacLaren, LVC president, said.\u202f&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Brown-Haywood will help lead the College\u2019s efforts in inclusive excellence around programming,&nbsp;education&nbsp;and mentoring.
