Between mask-wearing,\u202fvirtually\u202fattending events and\u202fquarantining,\u202fthe COVID-19 pandemic has changed\u202fhow\u202fstudents\u202flive and learn. Yet, it\u2019s the fact that LVC\u202fnow serves Starbucks coffee that has students talking.\u202f <\/p>\n\n\n\n

For as long as most\u202fLVC students can remember, Bishop Brews,\u202fthe\u202fcoffee shop in the Vernon & Doris Bishop Library, and\u202fInterMetzo,\u202fthe\u202fcoffee shop in the Clyde\u202fA. Lynch Memorial Hall, served Peet\u2019s\u202fCoffee. Ordering hot or iced\u202fcoffee drinks\u202ftopped with whip cream and drizzle was\u202fa\u202fpart of many LVC students\u2019\u202fdaily\u202froutines.\u202f <\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, this school year, a surprise greeted\u202fLVC\u202fstudents. Bishop Brews and\u202fInterMetzo\u202fwill now\u202fserve Starbucks coffee. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The reasoning behind the shift from Peet\u2019s\u202fCoffee\u202fto Starbucks isn\u2019t extremely clear, but Sherry Brandt, a barista at\u202fInterMetzo, explained that students were requesting Starbucks coffee on campus.\u202f <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe\u2019re happy the students are happy,\u201d Brandt said. \u201cAlthough it is a big change, we will catch on quickly.\u201d\u202f <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Starbucks has been quite a hit thus far, with business at\u202fInterMetzo\u202fand Bishop Brews on an upward trend. Brandt says the most popular drink order has been the iced caramel macchiato.\u202f <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Students\u202fcan\u202fpurchase Starbucks drinks from\u202fInterMetzo\u202fand Bishop Brews using their flex dollars, cash or card.\u202f <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI definitely prefer Starbucks coffee,\u202fand I am much more familiar with their menu,\u201d Denise McMaster, a junior economics major, said.\u202f\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Both locations still serve other food and\u202faccept meal exchanges Monday\u202f\u2013 Friday from 11 a.m. \u2013 1 p.m.\u202fInterMetzo\u202falso does dinner meal exchanges Monday\u202f\u2013 Thursday from 5 p.m. \u2013 7 p.m.\u202f <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI am just really happy they still serve the breakfast sandwiches,\u201d McMaster said.\u202f\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

InterMetzo\u202fand Bishop Brews are still run by mostly the same staff too, despite the jump from Peet\u2019s Coffee to Starbucks.\u202f <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI am so\u202fglad\u202fit\u2019s the same staff, they are so sweet, and they are there for me every morning when I get my coffee,\u201d McMaster said.\u202f\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Brandt\u2019s favorite Starbucks drink is\u202fthe mocha\u00a0Frappuccino, while McMaster\u2019s favorite is the white mocha latte.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
