{"id":7255,"date":"2021-09-20T19:10:43","date_gmt":"2021-09-20T19:10:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/wordpress.lvc.edu\/wordpress\/lavie\/?p=7255"},"modified":"2021-09-20T19:10:43","modified_gmt":"2021-09-20T19:10:43","slug":"metz-in-need-of-workers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wordpress.lvc.edu\/lavie\/2021\/09\/20\/metz-in-need-of-workers\/","title":{"rendered":"Metz in need of workers\u202f"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"dslc-theme-content\"><div id=\"dslc-theme-content-inner\">\n<p>By James Zilinski\u202f\u201922, staff writer\u202f\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The national labor shortage is showing itself on campus as Metz struggles to find workers.\u202f\u202f&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Metz has been forced to reduce hours at Dutchmen Den\u202fand\u202fInterMetzo; both locations provide on-the-go food and drink options for LVC students.\u202f\u202f\u202f&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe plan on this being a temporary problem,\u201d Dan Shadoin, general manager of Metz,\u202fsaid.\u202f\u201cAs soon as we can recruit and train additional staff,&nbsp;we will return to full operations.\u201d\u202f&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the meantime,&nbsp;Shadoin&nbsp;apologizes to students for the inconvenience. Metz employees are currently working overtime to keep services\u202frunning as smoothly\u202fas possible, but the\u202fworker shortage\u202fis\u202fnot the only problem impacting Metz\u202fthis semester.\u202f\u202f&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe are also seeing shortages in the supplies we normally purchase,\u201d Shadoin&nbsp;said.\u202f\u202f&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As a\u202fresult, some food options may not always be available. While this may be out of&nbsp;Metz\u2019s&nbsp;control, the worker shortage is not. Metz is hiring student workers for retail, catering,&nbsp;dining&nbsp;and kitchen operations.\u202f\u202f&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe pay $12 an hour and each LVC employee gets an additional $1 per hour in Flex Dollars,\u201d Shadoin&nbsp;said.\u202f&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Day, evening, catering on-call and weekend shifts&nbsp;are available.
