{"id":6507,"date":"2020-10-16T14:48:30","date_gmt":"2020-10-16T14:48:30","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/wordpress.lvc.edu\/wordpress\/lavie\/?p=6507"},"modified":"2020-10-16T14:48:30","modified_gmt":"2020-10-16T14:48:30","slug":"oia-adapts-to-pandemic-precautions","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wordpress.lvc.edu\/lavie\/2020\/10\/16\/oia-adapts-to-pandemic-precautions\/","title":{"rendered":"OIA adapts to pandemic precautions"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"dslc-theme-content\"><div id=\"dslc-theme-content-inner\">\n<p>By: Olivia Haug \u201921, Staff Writer<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Office of Intercultural Affairs (OIA) and Inclusive Programming is adapting to pandemic precautions.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This semester, OIA is utilizing technology and social media more in the wake of the COVID-19 protocols.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cLike everyone, we have had to be creative and innovative to engage our community,\u201d Renata Williams and Tyler Cox, director and associate director of Intercultural Affairs and Inclusive Programming, said. \u201cWe have been relying on technology to check-in and keep in touch with each other.\u201d<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Instead of in-office meetings, OIA is holding office hours at the Mary Green tent.&nbsp;<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On top of everything online, OIA is still regularly holding events like Community Check-Ins and Brave Zone training. The office&#8217;s intern, Khalil Brim, is also working on a YouTube series called \u201cDisturbing the Silence.\u201d This series focuses on diverse voices and their stories.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>OIA\u2019s affinity clubs such as Black Student Union, Latin Excellence, Freedom Rings and others are also holding cultural events throughout the semester. <br><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<div class=\"mh-excerpt\"><p>By: Olivia Haug \u201921, Staff Writer The Office of Intercultural Affairs (OIA) and Inclusive Programming is adapting to pandemic precautions.
