{"id":6143,"date":"2020-09-17T14:15:48","date_gmt":"2020-09-17T14:15:48","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/wordpress.lvc.edu\/wordpress\/lavie\/?p=6143"},"modified":"2020-09-17T14:15:48","modified_gmt":"2020-09-17T14:15:48","slug":"lvc-establishes-new-honors-program","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wordpress.lvc.edu\/lavie\/2020\/09\/17\/lvc-establishes-new-honors-program\/","title":{"rendered":"LVC establishes new honors program"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"dslc-theme-content\"><div id=\"dslc-theme-content-inner\">\n<p>By: Lauren Swisher \u201822, staff writer<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p> LVC debuted a new honors program this fall which aims to provide a hands-on, interdisciplinary education to a select group of students. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Bailey Willis, a freshman exploratory major, appreciates the program. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s nice to be around people who are similarly motivated, genuinely good people,\u201d Willis said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In order to apply for the honors program, a student must\nhave at least a 3.5 GPA and must be in the top 20% of their high school class.\nThe program is also invite-only.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI saw myself being a part of that group,\u201d Willis said.\n\u201cIt\u2019s been such an awesome experience and a lot of us have felt like we\u2019ve\nknown each other for years already.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>LVC honors program students live and take honors classes\ntogether on campus. They gain advantages which include annual $1,000\nscholarships and competitive career advantages.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI know that the program will be a big benefit to all of us\nin the next few years, even after college,\u201d Willis said. \u201cI can see that Honors\nwill give us a unique experience and a quality education.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After a student indicates their interest, they must complete\nan interview and then enroll at LVC. <\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<div class=\"mh-excerpt\"><p>By: Lauren Swisher \u201822, staff writer LVC debuted a new honors program this fall which aims to provide a hands-on, interdisciplinary education to a select group of students.
