A recent LVC alumnus hasn\u2019t let the restrictions of a\nvirus-stricken world hold him back. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trevor Holak, a former lacrosse team captain, 50\/50 peer mentor and psychology major, is no stranger to stepping up when others need him. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Holak graduated in May of 2020, after being moved out of his\ndorm and having his senior lacrosse season cut short.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt was initially a shock,” Holak said. “We had to\ncome to terms with it whether we wanted to or not.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

When he went on, he explained how being sent home was almost\na jumpstart, forcing him to focus on balancing school, home and work life. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

While some recent graduates would\u2019ve seen the pandemic as a hindrance to their aspirations, the first thing Holak did was find a job shipping packages with FedEx. He figured it\u2019d be a good way to stay busy during quarantine and was happy to be able to make some extra cash. So much so, that Holak was able to accomplish his long-time goal of being financially independent. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

He and his girlfriend moved in together, and they are excited to be living in a home of their own and enjoy the creativity it allows for. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Holak was recently able to close the FedEx chapter; he was offered the Counselor in Training position at Maryville, Inc. He started on Labor Day, and is proud to have an opportunity like this that will get him one step closer to his ultimate goal of owning a private practice. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI can\u2019t wait to work in my field finally, even before I graduated, I was really looking forward to finding a job and getting out there,\u201d Holak said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Through this all, he\u2019s managed to focus on furthering his schooling and finished a nine-page paper on middle-aged adulthood to cap off his first graduate level course. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pandemic or not, there\u2019s still plenty of avenues for graduates to find to success, and Trevor Holak is doing his part to step up. <\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
