While many athletes dream for the opportunity to play in a professional league, Cole Hepler turned his dream into reality after four impressive years of ice hockey at LVC.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Earlier\nthis year, senior captain Cole Hepler signed a professional contract with the\nHuntsville Havoc to continue his ice hockey career. Hepler stood out on the LVC\nsquad not only as a leader, but also as a fierce offensive weapon against other\nteams. He finished his career with 41 goals and was named to the All-MAC Second\nTeam for the third straight season this year. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI\nwas called to come play on a Monday and by Friday night, I was playing in my\nfirst pro game,\u201d Hepler said. \u201cIt\u2019s been a dream of mine to play hockey\nprofessionally and the Huntsville Havoc provided that opportunity.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Despite\nthe hockey season being put on pause due to COVID-19, Huntsville has extended a\ntraining camp offer to Hepler for next season. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

While\nat LVC, Hepler took his skills off the ice last fall where he made his debut on\nthe men\u2019s golf team. His best finish came at Lycoming College\u2019s Fall\nInvitational where he tied for ninth with a 77.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cMy\nexperience at LVC has been memorable and I\u2019m thankful for all the friends and\nrelationships I\u2019ve built here,\u201d Hepler said. \u201cBeing a student-athlete had its struggles,\nbut I\u2019m grateful for the challenge as it has prepared me for my career path.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Apart\nfrom athletics, Hepler was part of study huddle for the ice hockey team and was\nalso a member of the grounds crew on campus. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

As\nHepler looks ahead to his life after LVC, he sees himself using his degree in\nbusiness administration and wants to be involved in project management to help\nhis family business prosper. Hepler also looks forward to getting married in\nthe next year and settling in the Pittsburgh area. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

While\nhe looks forward to the opportunity ahead, he also looks back on the memories\nhe\u2019s made with his friends and teammates at LVC.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI\u2019m\ngoing to miss the hockey experience and friends as I move on from LVC,\u201d Hepler\nsaid. \u201cI\u2019ve gained many brothers over the past four years and all my teammates\nhave made this journey unforgettable.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hepler\nspecifically looks back on memories of scoring the game winning goal against\nUtica College this past season, goofing around in the locker room before\npractices and singing \u201cI Wanna Dance with Somebody\u201d by Whitney Houston with his\nteammates after big wins on the ice. With all of the experiences and knowledge\nHepler has gained at LVC, he looks to help future Dutchmen make the most of\ntheir time by sharing some advice. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cMy\nadvice for future Dutchmen would be to enjoy what LVC has to offer and never\ntake time for granted,\u201d Hepler said. \u201cTake advantage of what LVC has to offer\nbecause everyone on campus is looking to better you as a student and human\nbeing.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
