The team didn\u2019t start off as strong as it had wished, but quickly turned that around when it came time for conference play.<\/p>\n<p>In its first conference game this season, the field hockey team beat Albright in a thrilling 2-1 double overtime victory. The team carried that momentum into its next several games.<\/p>\n<p>The Dutchmen beat rival school, Alvernia, in overtime by a score of 2-1. Then, during homecoming weekend, the team beat a previously undefeated Widener team by a score of 1-0.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWorking together as a team, rather than individuals, is what has helped us win games,\u201d Alida Steenkamer, a senior defender and captain, said.<\/p>\n<p>In its most recent game against Stevenson, the team had a huge 5-0 win, making its conference record 4-0 and overall record 9-5.<\/p>\n<p>The team is currently on a remarkable seven game winning streak. Its last loss was September 18th against Gettysburg College.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA lot of our success goes to the athletes,\u201d Amber Corcoran, head coach, said.<\/p>\n<p>The field hockey team\u2019s next game is against a tough Messiah team. LVC field hockey hasn\u2019t beat Messiah since 2014.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have a really good chance at beating Messiah and being first in the MAC Commonwealth,\u201d Steenkamer said.<\/p>\n<p>The Dutchmen are currently ranked second in the MAC Commonwealth.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis team is making history and I\u2019m happy to be a part of it,\u201d Corcoran said.<\/p>\n<p>The field hockey team travels to Messiah on Oct. 23 as it looks to take that number one spot in the MAC Commonwealth.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<div class=\"mh-excerpt\"><p>By Hannah Shirey &#8217;23, Staff Writer The field hockey team is looking to make history this season after starting off with a 0-4 record.
