After a slow 2-4 start to the season, the women\u2019s soccer team looks to learn from their early losses. After losing their last three games, the team bounced back with a strong 2-0 win over King\u2019s College. <\/p>\n

The coaches and captain Cheyenne Scott are focused on the team staying optimistic through the difficult start. <\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s been tough trying to overcome this adversity,\u201d Scott, a senior midfielder, said. \u201cAs a team, we are really working to stay positive and gain our confidence back.\u201d <\/p>\n

With 10 games remaining and one postponed, the Dutchmen still have plenty of time to get back on track. They hope to use the first six games as a learning experience to get better results. <\/p>\n

\u201cOur goal is to not dwell on the games we\u2019ve had, but to rather use them to learn and get better,\u201d Scott Said. <\/p>\n

With the new season, the team welcomed 10 freshmen to the roster. At the end of last season, five seniors graduated, including first year assistant coach Rileigh Jo Evitts. <\/p>\n

As captain, Scott looks to be a leader for a team full of new faces and pull from her experiences with team captains over the past few years. <\/p>\n

\u201cThe biggest thing I\u2019ve learned from past captains is the importance of leading by example,\u201d Scott said. \u201cEverything that you ask of your teammates, whether on the field or off the field, is something you as a leader have to exhibit first. As a captain that\u2019s in how you play, your attitude, and how you lead.\u201d. <\/p>\n

After Saturday\u2019s win, the team hopes to build momentum going into next week\u2019s games. Scott says the team plans to take the season one game at a time.<\/p>\n

The Dutchmen are back in action Sept. 28 at Eastern University at noon. <\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
