Arnold Art Gallery began its 25th season with the works of renowned and local artist, Daniel Massad.<\/p>\n<p>On Sept. 6, the gallery held the opening reception of \u201cA Theater of Things: The Work of G. Daniel Massad.\u201d The exhibition features a wide range of Massad\u2019s work created over the course of the past five decades, the majority of pieces being articulate still-life pastel drawings.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA Theater of Things\u201d also includes his most recent finished work, \u201cDafs.\u201d According to Dr. Barbara McNulty, director of the Suzanne H. Arnold Art Gallery, his work is intended to tell a story and includes objects important to him. The exhibition is unique because it showcases his development.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s rare to see Dan Massad\u2019s early works, and this is the only time you get to see that,\u201d Dr. Grant Taylor, professor of art and art history, said.<\/p>\n<p>Since its beginning in 1994, Massad has assisted with the Suzanne H. Arnold Art Gallery. Additionally, he has taught as an Artist-in-Residence at LVC.<\/p>\n<p>McNulty expressed her gratitude for Massad, deeming him an \u201cinvaluable part of the department and gallery.\u201d In her opening remarks at the reception, she addressed his renown.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEven though Dan is local, his reputation far exceeds the bounds of Annville,\u201d McNulty said.<\/p>\n<p>Outside of the College\u2019s gallery, numerous prestigious museums have exhibited Massad\u2019s work, including the Philadelphia Museum of Art, the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the National Gallery of Art in Washington.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA Theater of Things: The Work of G. Daniel Massad\u201d will run until Oct. 20, 2019. The exhibition is free and open to the public. Gallery hours are on Wednesdays, 5-8 p.m., Thursdays and Fridays, 1-4:30 p.m., and Saturdays and Sundays, 11 a.m.-5 p.m.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<div class=\"mh-excerpt\"><p>By: Page Olsen &#8217;20, Staff Writer The Suzanne H.
