Finals are not easy to tackle and can be overwhelming at times, to the point where one can lose sleep over assignments.

The next two weeks will determine our fate for the fall semester and can only be shown through our grades and the GPA that accumulates from the scores we receive on our assignments.

Do you think you can’t handle it all? Should you be scared? Does Netflix sound like a good option right now? The answer to all those questions is no.

On a positive note, it is unlikely that your professors will give you new assignments at this point of the semester. Everything you need to accomplish has already been defined and is now solely up to you to complete. If your professor decides to throw a last-minute assignment at you, that’s not your professor. It’s the Grinch.

Some of the best advice I’ve received in my life was during a concert in my freshman year. Adrian Estrella, a singer for Assuming We Survive, was walking around the venue when we made eye contact and started talking. Eventually, he got to a point where he looked me straight in the eye and said, “The only person preventing you from accomplishing your dreams is yourself.”

There is one thing that is at the center of everything, and it’s your thoughts. The Law of Attraction states that your thoughts and feelings dictate how you act, and those thoughts and feelings translate to your body, which produces the attraction and gives you the results. Because we can consciously decide about what we think and feel and because the body is an instrument of the mind, what you believe is what you attract into your life.

If you really want to get a good grade on that final, that paper or that final project, go after it and don’t let anyone or anything stop you, not even yourself.

We’re constantly battling against ourselves to become the best version of what we strive to be. Keep in mind, there is no right or wrong way to do anything. You can only trace those steps backward after you’ve accomplished your goal.

So, it is with this knowledge and with the laws of the universe where I say to you: do it. Keep going. Once you start, your ideas will continue to build upon themselves, to the point where you become obsessed with the idea of completing your work to its fullest.

Your knowledge and skills are some of the most valuable possessions I’ve ever seen. Knock out your assignments one-by-one and soon enough, you’ll reach the finish line. Your friends and family will still be there at the end and they’ll give you all the love and attention you’ve so rightfully worked for. Just know that whatever it is you do, I fully support it. You’ve got this. I believe in you.

By: Ryan Gilroy ’19, staff writer All of us know how this time of the year creeps upon us.
