The Lebanon Valley College men\u2019s ice hockey team has high hopes for this season.<\/p>\n

The Flying Dutchmen\u2019s season just started, and the team’s record is 3-2-2. While five games is a small sample size, the men’s current record is setting up the players\u2019 expectations for the year.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis year we have a positive attitude from the start of the season and want to build on and improve our record from last year,\u201d Mike Straub, senior defenseman and team captain, said.<\/p>\n

When asked of his outlooks on the season, Brett Johnson, senior left wing, was also very positive.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have a great group of guys with the potential to exceed our expectations and contend for the conference championship,\u201d Johnson said. \u201cWe have tons of experience in our returners and our freshman fit in perfectly with the rest of the team.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Flying Dutchmen played Utica College, who is always one of LVC\u2019s toughest opponents, on Sunday, Nov. 18 at 5 p.m.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe game against Utica is going to be a big test for our team,\u201d Straub said. \u201cUtica is always a solid team and they have experienced a lot of success in recent years.\u201d<\/p>\n

Johnson provided similar thoughts regarding Utica.<\/p>\n

\u201cUtica is always a tough game,\u201d Johnson said.\u00a0 \u201cBut we are very excited to play them and are confident in our ability to compete with the top teams in our conference.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Dutchmen defeated Utica with a score of 6-1. The team is back in action on Friday, Nov. 30 at the Giant Center, and the game begins at 7 p.m.<\/p>\n
