The women\u2019s ice hockey team might not have started the season the way it might have hoped, but the team has reason to be optimistic in the coming weeks.<\/p>\n

The ladies are currently 2-4 but have yet to play a game at home this season. The team\u2019s first home game is scheduled to take place on Sunday, Nov. 2 at 2 p.m. at the Giant Center in Hershey. Hopefully, they will be able to gain some momentum in their upcoming home games.<\/p>\n

This is the team\u2019s third year as a program, as its\u2019 first year was in 2016. In the team’s first season, the ladies went 4-17. In its\u2019 second year, the team went 2-19-2. Things are looking better this year as the Dutchmen already have two wins under its\u00a0belt.<\/p>\n

Jill Moffatt, a junior goalkeeper, recently earned MAC Defensive Player of the Week. This is the third time in her career she has been awarded this weekly honor, and the first time this season. She currently boasts a .945 save percentage with 324 shots against her and only 17 goals allowed on the season. Moffatt had an impressive number of saves in a two-game series against the number one ranked team, Elmira College. She made 30 saves in just over 26 minutes of action in the first game, and 85 saves in the second game against Elmira.<\/p>\n

On offense, the team is led by Chole Glass, a sophomore forward. Glass has played in all six games this year and leads the team with 3 goals on 16 shots, 2 assists and 5 points.<\/p>\n

The team will be back in action this weekend with their first home game. The Dutchmen will face William Smith College on Saturday, Nov. 17 at 3 p.m. at Twin Ponds East, in Harrisburg, and also on Sunday, Nov. 18 at 2 p.m. at the Giant Center, in Hershey.<\/p>\n
